Over the months of May and June, the City of Sacramento, Sacramento Public Library, Valley Vision, and SVP Sacramento have come together to steer the results and insights gained at the Digital Inclusion Summit. The hope is to build and formalize a plan that can be utilized in addressing key challenges to achieving digital inclusion.

Initially, as a steering force we have taken best practices from other coalitions around the nation and have derived a mission and vision of the work and impact we seek to achieve.

Coalition:

A group agencies, organizations, stakeholders, service providers and individuals who are all working together to solve a problem.

Vision:

Every citizen and household in the greater Sacramento Region has access to the Internet, the equipment needed to use it, and the skills necessary to utilize it.

Mission:

To facilitate collaboration among organizations and initiatives working to bridge the digital divide in order maximize the resources for the greatest impact.

The three focus areas in which we aim to build strategies and tactics alongside other coalition and community members are:

  1. Access to Broadband

  2. Access to Hardware and Computing Devices

  3. Access to Skills and Training

In an effort to gain as much insight and feedback as possible we have scheduled three dates to inform community members about our intent to close these access gaps while gathering information to better inform and guide the plans efforts. If you are interested in attending and sharing your perspective on digital inclusion please RSVP and attend one of the sessions below.
