College Track believes all students have the ability to succeed. Yet, the reality remains that only 21% of low-income and first generation college students who enroll in college will graduate, but a college degree continues to be the minimum requirement for careers that provide upward social mobility. College Track is dedicated to seeing our students earn 4-year college degrees. We make a 10-year commitment to students to provide them with academic support, leadership training, and scholarships starting the summer before 9th grade through college graduation.
College Track Sacramento currently serves 146 students, 89% will be first in their families to graduate from college and 78% come from families who are below 200% the federal poverty level. Our founding class of students is half way done with their junior year of high school, and eagerly preparing to submit their college applications next year. Nationally, our students graduate college at more than double the rate of low-income and first generation college students. College Track Sacramento’s students are committed to exceeding College Track’s national graduation average.
Strong ACT scores are a vital part of our students’ path to and through college. Our students have been diligently studying for the test. College Track hosted three ACT practice tests and weekly 90 minutes ACT prep courses – for a total of 30 hours of ACT prep in addition to the daily academic assistance we offer. Our founding class took the ACT test for the first time in December 2016 marking a huge milestone on their journey to college. As other aspects of the college application process are due – researching colleges and scholarships, writing a personal essay, preparing for admission interviews – College Track will be there every step of the way.
