We are excited to join Align Capital Region’s Innovative Pathways to Public Service (IPPS), A-Team. This team is comprised of a diverse set of organizations and institutions ranging from the CA Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office to our local municipalities: City of Sacramento, City of Elk Grove, and the City of Rancho Cordova.
The A-Team is working to “ensure that there is a robust talent pipeline/pathway for careers in the public sector through effective, data-driven strategies that attract, develop and retain talent…”. The Public Service pathway is unique to the Greater Sacramento Region as it employs 30% of our workforce.
Therefore, SVP Sacramento’s aim is to further understand the needs of the employment side of the equation while identifying how we can invest and engage with nonprofits to fill the gaps on the education side of the equation. We are developing a deeper understanding of the education and skills necessary to succeed in this pathway.
We will be working to develop interventions on both sides of the equation in which we hope to promote:
- Extended pathways into K-12
- Work-based Learning
- Digital Badging
Through this A-Team, we will all seek to leverage one another’s knowledge and know-how in an effort to address two key gaps in this pathway which are:
- Exposure and access for students to relevant learning experiences acting as a learning lab for students and public service.
- Developing talented students/workers that reflect the future of work.
